Walter M. “Marty” Cummins Jr., the Managing Member of Free Marketeers LLC is an attorney by profession, but considers himself primarily an entrepreneur. His greatest success came when he and his wife, Jan, opened a cafe and bookshop in 1989. They opened several more – each a bit larger – over the next 15 years. During that time they co-founded and pursued funding for the Jack Kerouac Writers in Residence Project 501c3 in the home that Kerouac was living in when his classic ON THE ROAD was published. The iconic house was offered rent free to aspiring writers from around the world. Their advisory Board included a wide array of individuals who appreciated Kerouac’s work including Jerry Stiller, Norman Mailer, Pete Seeger, Steve Allen and William F. Buckley Jr. In 2005 Jan and Marty retired for 4 years in order to be free to attend their only daughter’s high school activities and during that time they founded Florida EB5 Investments LLC, a Regional Center designated by US Citizenship & Immigration to arrange funding of American businesses by foreign investors. Since 2010 that Regional Center has hosted over 75 projects including hotels, schools for autistic children, restaurants, a lumber mill and office buildings. During their 4 year retirement, Marty conducted a study of how to market free markets in such a way that a groundswell movement could be established to create the greatest wealth, the widest distribution of that wealth, maximum freedom and opportunity for all, enough wealth to care for those who cannot care for themselves and upward pressure on real wages so that no one is left behind.
